October 3-9 this year was National Fire Safety Week. Each year our department in conjunction with the schools and Victoria Public Library, meet with 100s of kids and discuss safety and our Fire Service with kids.

Victoria Fire & Rescue was dispatched at 18:04 hours for a dumpster fire beside Country Fair Store. Victoria Chief 2 arrived to find a single dumpster unit with light smoke showing. Engine 2 arrived with 4 and began extinguishing the dumpster.

At 10:58 today Victoria Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a residential fire alarm at 3686 Kings Rd. Units were canceled en route. False alarm caused by some renovation work being done to the structure.

At 10:29 hours Victoria Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a residential smoke alarm at 165 Old Mansion Rd. Engine 2 with 5 arrived to find a single story wood frame structure with nothing showing from the outside.

Victoria Fire & Rescue dispatched at 20:36 to 13498 Oral Oaks Rd. for a fully involved dumpster fire. Chief 2 arrived to find heavy fire showing from a solo dumpster unit. Crews from E-2 and T 2-1 extinguished fire and removed hazards.

Dispatched 1555 hrs to 2984 Shelton Road to assist Chase City Fire with approximately 2 acre brush fire. Victoria unit Brush 2 assisted with extinguishing of fire, and Victoria Chief 2 placed other units in staging due to access problems.

Dispatched 0747 Hours to area of 487 Twin Cemetary Road for 2 car accident. Upon arrival found 1 car with frontal impact to a tree, and the 3 occupants out of the vehicle. Scene caused road closure until the vehicle was removed.

Dispatched 1057hrs to 1000 Block of Old Mansion Road for single vehicle MVC. Upon arrival Rescue 2 arrived to find vehicle just into woodline with heavy front end damage. Lone occupant of the vehicle was out upon arrival.

Dispatched 1346 to 1097 Marshalltown Road for Field Fire. Upon arrival, Victoria Chief 2 found slow moving 1 acre fire. Fire not threatening any structures. Brush 2 and other units manpower assigned with extinguishment.

DIspatched 1744hrs to 2547 Fowlkes Road for Brush Fire. Upon arrival Brush 2 found slow moving 1 acre field fire. Units controlled fire in 10 minutes, and returned to service after. Units onscene: B-2, T2-1, M2-4.

Dispatched 1638 to the 2200 Block of 6th Street for brush fire. Upon arrival Chief 2 found approximately 1 acre fire burning in woodline and open lot about 600 feet from a residence. Crews from Brush 2, Tanker 2-1 extinguished fire, bringing it under control in about 15 minutes.

Dispatched 1750hrs for reported structure fire. While responding Engine 2 was advised that Deputy onscene arrived to find remains of previously destroyed trailer smoking, with brush fire burning. Engine 2 arrived to find approximately 2 acre woods fire, slow moving, not threatening a structure.

Dispatched 1419 to area of 600 Crymes Road for reported brush fire. Brush 2 arrived to find approximately 4 acre fire in overgrown shrubs and trees from past logging job. Fire spreading towards a residence and woodline about 75 yards away.

DIspatched 1631hrs to respond in area of 2000 Galliontown Road. Brush 2 arrived to find small 1 acre fire rapidly moving to woodline. FIre stopped before it could spread into woods. Crews took 20 minutes to fully extinguish fire, and returned to service in 45 mins.
