Dispatched at 2000hrs to 1201 Norfolk Ave for a reported chimney fire in a home. Upon units marking enroute, Lunenburg Communications advised units that the fire has already spread to attic. Assistant Chief 202(Crenshaw) arrived first to find a single story woodframe home with heavy smoke coming from entrances. Squrt 2(with 5) and Engine 2(with 4) arrived just after and made entry for fire attack. Upon making entry, fire found in ceiling and wall void spaces from C-D corner back towards area of chimney. Second line committed to attic to extinguish, which firefighters found heat and smoke, but learned that original structures attic could not access the new addition. Crews from Squad 2, Tanker 2, and Rescue 2 cut ventilation holes in roof, D and A sides to access area under the new roof to extinguish. Fire was extinguished, and extensive salvage operations performed. VFR Units: Chief 2(202), Squrt 2, Engine 2, Squad 2, Tanker 2, Rescue 2, Medic 2-1, Support 2. Total Personnel: 23.
